Head of School



 
Leanne Messer brings 24 years of experience in education to Hyde Park Schools.  A 1985 graduate of Texas Wesleyan College, Ms. Messer received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology and her teaching certification. After serving as a public school teacher in Texas and New Mexico she earned a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of New Mexico.  She was named the first female Athletic Director in the state of New Mexico and subsequently served as an Elementary School principal.  After the birth of her oldest son, she supervised degree candidates in the Administrative Education department of the University of New Mexico and acted as the consulting Director for her church’s pre-school.  She and her husband Steve also served on the Board of Adoptions Plus. 

After completing a Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law she practiced law in the areas of child advocacy and general litigation serving as the attorney of record for the Drug Court program in the juvenile court of Douglas County, a program designed for the purpose of family reunification. She also contributed to the National Zero to Three Initiative for early childhood intervention.  During that time she was also an active participant in the Georgia Innocence Project, an independent nonprofit organization that works to correct and prevent wrongful convictions in Georgia.

Prior to coming to Hyde Park in 2014, she worked as an administrator at Landmark Christian School in Fairburn, Georgia, where she led the school to record enrollment and secured the largest foundational grant in the school’s 20-year history. 

Currently, Ms. Messer serves as the President of the Texas Private Schools Association continuing as a member of the Board since 2015.

Additionally, she serves on the Board of Joshua Expeditions, a non-profit Christian organization founded for the purpose of assisting schools and churches in bringing the world to young people and bringing the Gospel to the world through mission travel.

Since 2017 she has served on the Board of Directors for All God’s Children International, an organization dedicated to serving the 8 million children institutionalized worldwide and working with governments to provide standards of care and training of caretakers for those orphaned and abandoned.

She was recently named to chair the board of Take Heart Ministry, an organization dedicated to inspiring students to live a God-Worthy life through dynamic discipleship and Christ-centered counseling through a program of proclaiming the Gospel in public schools, teaching discipleship in Christian/Home schools and providing mentoring and individual counseling in the state of Georgia.

In her current role as Hyde Park’s Head of School she is actively involved the Texas Association of Baptist Schools as well as the National Association of Christian Schools (formerly the Southern Baptist Association of Christian Schools).

Ms. Messer, her husband Steve, and their two sons are members of Hyde Park Baptist Church where Steve leads the Faith Life Sunday School class.

    Ms. Hull and her husband, David, are members of Austin Ridge Bible Church and have two sons who graduated from Hyde Park Schools, Ryan (25 – Texas Tech Engineering) and Tyler (23- University of Texas Business Honors). Ms. Hull holds a BBA in Marketing from Texas Tech University and is Senior Advisor of Governmental Affairs at Southwest Airlines where she leads State and Local Affairs for the company. She is past chairperson of the State and Local Affairs Committee of Airlines for America, the airline industry’s trade association.  She volunteers as co-leader of the GOWeek Mission Trip to Tamarindo, Costa Rica, alongside fellow Hyde Park School Board member and friend, Julie Jumonville.  Travel, skiing, ultimate Frisbee, pickle ball, and art projects are a few of Ms. Hull’s passions, along with spending time with family and friends.
Russell Krienke

    Dr. Krienke is a long-time Austin physician. He is a graduate of the University of Texas and Baylor College of Medicine. He has served several terms on the HP school board over the past 15 years. Dr. Krienke's youngest son, Blake, is a graduate of Hyde Park Schools. Dr. Krienke has served on multiple professional and business Boards of Directors throughout his career. Dr. Krienke’s goal for the school is to help it fulfill the Vision 20/20 mission statement and become the school God desires it to be.

    Ms. Helmers serves as Executive Director and Head of Export and Finance Americas for JP Morgan, where she leads a team of trade professionals to provide cross-border financing solutions to corporate and government entities globally. She is a member of the World Trade Supervisory Board of the Greater Houston Partnership, the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT-IFSA) and sits on the Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory committee with the US Export Import Bank of the United States.  She holds a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA in International Finance from the University of Loyola, Chicago.   

    Ms. Helmers and her husband Brian have two boys that attend Hyde Park Elementary (HPS ‘28 and HPS ‘31) The Helmers family attends Hyde Park Baptist Church.

    While studying business at the University of Texas, Mr. Rinke began working at Golfsmith International, Inc. in 1985. At the time, the company was a small mail-order business, which sold approximately $8.9 million worth of golf equipment worldwide. Ultimately, Mr. Rinke advanced to the position of Vice President, Marketing. After more than 17 years with the company, which grew to become the world’s leading retailer of golf equipment - attaining annual sales of $278 million - Golfsmith International was sold in 2002. In August of 2004, Mr. Rinke and his partners founded RPR Management, Inc, which manages family investments via a private equity fund. The company’s primary focus has been commercial real estate investments but has participated in other opportunistic endeavors as well. Mr. Rinke has served on numerous non-profit and for-profit boards and committees including:
    Colorado Ringers, LP, Austin Metro Young Life, Austin Christian Fellowship, and Hyde Park Schools Board of Directors.
Elizabeth Horne

    A native Austinite, Ms. Horne is a graduate of the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. She is married to Ed Horne, and is the proud mother of son, Nash Horne (HPS ‘10.) With experience in banking, land development and homebuilding, Ms. Horne is licensed by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners RID and the Texas Real Estate Commission. Longtime members of Hyde Park Baptist Church with a passion for Christian education, Elizabeth and Ed Horne have been involved in the founding of Trinity Episcopal School, Devine Savior Lutheran School/Santa Rita Ranch and the building of Hyde Park High School.

    Mr. Chapman holds a BBA from Baylor University Class of ’93.     A proud native Austinite, Mr. Garner earned a Bachelor of Engineering Science from the University of Texas and has put it to use for the past 40 years in electronic and construction manufacturing.  Mr. Garner is a member and Deacon of Hyde Park Baptist Church and has served for the past seven years as a Hyde Park School Board Chairman, director, or advisory member.  Married to Martha for 37 years, he is the father of Garrett (HPS ‘10), Hayden (HPS ‘13), Trevor (HPS ‘16), and Logan (HPS ‘19).

    Mr. Gerrie joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Austin in 1992 and currently serves as Managing Director and Senior Financial Advisor. Mr. Gerrie was named to Barron's “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors” list in 2018 and 2019.  Mr. Gerrie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. and prior to joining Merrill was a Vice President of a commercial real estate company in Dallas. Mr. Gerrie and his wife, Kerri, have four children who all graduated from Hyde Park Schools.  Mr. Gerrie is very active in the Austin community and is a volunteer committee member of Young Life Austin, a board member of Hyde Park Schools, and is involved in Africa New Life Ministries.  He is a past board member of Young Life Austin, the U.T. Alumni Association, and the Arthritis Foundation.  In his spare time, Mr. Gerrie enjoys spending time with his family and fly-fishing.
Brian Wood

    As co-owner and operating partner of Observint Technologies, Mr. Wood oversee finance and operations, and provides strategic vision for the company – based on his successful track record for building technology business. Mr. Wood brings 30 years of experience in leadership and business expertise, in technology and product delivery. Mr. Wood spent 18 years with Dell, Inc., where he held a variety of executive and general management roles, including VP/GM of the Dell’s $11 billion U.S. Public Sector business and VP/GM of Dell’s $5 billion Large Enterprise business. Prior to joining Dell, Mr. Wood was a faculty member at the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Wood holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Emory University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He serves on the board of directors for Bulb and Hyde Park Schools. Mr. Wood is married to Dena Wood and father of Hyde Park Schools graduates Jake and Rachel Wood. The Wood family is active in their outreach to the community of Abaco in the Bahamas, having established Austin Serving Abaco, a charitable foundation to serve more than 200 children in this immigrant population.

    Ms. Stanford has lived in Austin Texas her entire life and is a graduate of Hyde Park Baptist High School. Ms. Stanford is married to Brian Stanford and they have two children, Travis (HPS ‘16) and Victoria (HPS ‘19.) While her children were attending Hyde Park Schools, Ms. Stanford was deeply involved with her children’s activities and sporting events.  Ms. Stanford attended Kilgore College where she was a Kilgore College Rangerette, and is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Communications. Encouraged by her father, Ed Weeren, Ms. Stanford joined Ed Weeren Insurance Agency upon graduation from Texas A&M.  She is a very active member of the insurance community. With a strong passion for community service, Ms. Stanford is a founding member of the Treaty Oak Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. a mother and daughter service organization. Ms. Stanford held the position of VP Communications and President of NCL Treaty Oak.  Ms. Stanford has continued to serve NCL, Inc. in the position of District Membership Specialist.  A member of Bannockburn Church, Ms. Stanford enjoys spending time with her husband Brian at their family ranch in La Grange, Texas and attending Texas A & M sporting events.

    Ms. Jumonville is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BS in Civil Engineering and Southern Methodist University with a MS in Environmental Engineering. She brings her engineering/entrepreneurial experience and Austin connections to the GMJ Commercial Real Estate Team, working in conjunction with her team to find unique commercial opportunities to purchase for investors and clients.  Ms. Jumonville has started and invested in 3 successful companies in Austin, Texas including Avery Environmental Services (14 years), UpSpring Baby (10 years) and ROI Swift (3 years).  Outside of real estate, Ms. Jumonville loves to spend time with her husband and teenage children surfing different breaks.  In addition to her support as a board member of Hyde Park Schools, just a few of Ms. Jumonville’s areas of involvement include Westlake High School, Alchemy Theater as a Business Incubator Mentor and Mentor Liaison, Entrepreneurial Masters Program at MIT Board Member, and as an Austin Under 40 Finalist for Most Innovative Company in Austin.

    Ms. Bartholomew graduated from Regis University with a BBA in Human Resources Management. She currently serves as the Vice President of Human Resources of Lauren Concrete, Inc. and as the vice chair of the Board of Directors of a local credit union.  She has over 25 years of executive, leadership and human resources experience.

    Trusting Jesus for salvation at a young age, Ms. Bartholomew is a champion for Hyde Park Schools and is an active HP volunteer. Her passion lies within the halls of Hyde Park Schools and supporting its mission. Ms. Bartholomew and her husband, Ryan, have 3 children: Kinsley (HPS ‘33); Karly (HPS ‘23); Brenden (HPS ‘23). They joined the Hyde Park Schools community in 2012.

    Mr. Haywood is a corporate communications and public affairs leader with two decades of extensive experience developing, executing and measuring communication and government affairs campaigns in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Currently, Mr. Haywood serves as Vice President, Client Service Leader for HNTB Corporation, an employee-owned infrastructure solutions firm. He is a graduate of Trinity University and the University of Texas McCombs School of Business.  Mr. Haywood and his wife Megan have been actively engaged in Hyde Park since their daughter, Elle (HPS ‘27), started in 4K at the school. They also have a son, Drew (HPS ‘29).

    Mr. Kalb is a Senior Vice President and Investment Advisor with Texas Capital Bank Private Wealth Advisors.  As an Investment Advisor, Mr. Kalb has significant experience with the management of foundations and endowment portfolios and reporting to finance committees and boards. In addition, he is one of the members of the Investment Committee for Texas Capital Bank Private Wealth Advisors. Prior to joining Texas Capital Bank, Mr. Kalb was an Executive Director for J.P. Morgan Private Bank in the role of Investment Specialist.  Before working with the Private Bank, Mr. Kalb was with Morgan Stanley Graystone Consulting and specialized in investment consulting for institutional clientele such as endowments, foundations and other board-driven organizations. Mr. Kalb earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001. Mr. Kalb is involved in the community and, in addition to serving on the Board of Hyde Park Schools, currently serves on the Long Center for the Performing Arts Endowment Committee and volunteers with various community groups in Austin.  Mr. Kalb is active in his church, a proud father of three girls, and enjoys the outdoors, specifically freshwater and saltwater fishing, as well as fitness activities with his wife, Lindsey.
