Head of School



 
Leanne Messer brings 24 years of experience in education to Hyde Park Schools.  A 1985 graduate of Texas Wesleyan College, Ms. Messer received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology and her teaching certification. After serving as a public school teacher in Texas and New Mexico she earned a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of New Mexico.  She was named the first female Athletic Director in the state of New Mexico and subsequently served as an Elementary School principal.  After the birth of her oldest son, she supervised degree candidates in the Administrative Education department of the University of New Mexico and acted as the consulting Director for her church’s pre-school.  She and her husband Steve also served on the Board of Adoptions Plus. 

After completing a Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law she practiced law in the areas of child advocacy and general litigation serving as the attorney of record for the Drug Court program in the juvenile court of Douglas County, a program designed for the purpose of family reunification. She also contributed to the National Zero to Three Initiative for early childhood intervention.  During that time she was also an active participant in the Georgia Innocence Project, an independent nonprofit organization that works to correct and prevent wrongful convictions in Georgia.

Prior to coming to Hyde Park in 2014, she worked as an administrator at Landmark Christian School in Fairburn, Georgia, where she led the school to record enrollment and secured the largest foundational grant in the school’s 20-year history. 

Currently, Ms. Messer serves as the President of the Texas Private Schools Association continuing as a member of the Board since 2015.

Additionally, she serves on the Board of Joshua Expeditions, a non-profit Christian organization founded for the purpose of assisting schools and churches in bringing the world to young people and bringing the Gospel to the world through mission travel.

Since 2017 she has served on the Board of Directors for All God’s Children International, an organization dedicated to serving the 8 million children institutionalized worldwide and working with governments to provide standards of care and training of caretakers for those orphaned and abandoned.

She was recently named to chair the board of Take Heart Ministry, an organization dedicated to inspiring students to live a God-Worthy life through dynamic discipleship and Christ-centered counseling through a program of proclaiming the Gospel in public schools, teaching discipleship in Christian/Home schools and providing mentoring and individual counseling in the state of Georgia.

Randy Mott
President

    Randy Mott currently serves as the Executive Vice President, Global Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of General Motors where he is responsible for the company’s global IT strategy and all IT assets. Prior to joining GM, Mr. Mott served in similar roles at Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Inc., and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Mr. Mott’s vision and leadership approach has garnered him global recognition in leading transformational initiatives focused on optimizing IT as a business. An Arkansas native, Mr. Mott earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Mott and his wife Shannon have lived in Austin since 2000 and have been actively involved in Hyde Park Baptist Church since then. They have three adult children and two young grandsons. In addition to supporting local ministries, they have actively supported mission work domestically and internationally. Mr. Mott looks forward to serving on the HPS Board to support and continue the School’s mission of providing a Christ-centered education to current and future students.

Alyca Garrison

    Alyca Garrison was born and raised in Austin and attended Hyde Park School from kindergarten through 12th grade (HPS ‘04, Valedictorian). She then attended Baylor University where she earned her Bachelors degree in Accounting and a Masters in Taxation. After working for 5 years as a CPA, Ms. Garrison went back to school and earned her JD from Baylor Law School. She is now an employee benefits and executive compensation attorney practicing in the Austin area. Ms. Garrison is a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and has served in various roles at the church. She also previously served on the Hyde Park School Board from August 2013 – July 2016. Ms. Garrison recently married her husband, Greg, in early 2020. Ms. Garrison attributes much of her success to the strong Christian education and foundation she received at Hyde Park Schools and is honored to serve on the HPS Board again.

Dr. John Turner

    Dr. John Turner is a native Texan, but is new to the Austin area. Dr. Turner holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Houston; Masters degrees in business, Christian education and theology from Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS); as well as a Doctorate in preaching, also from SWBTS. Dr. Turner holds his license as a Certified Public Accountant and currently serves as the Executive Pastor at Hyde Park Baptist and The Quarries Church. Dr. Turner is married to Beth, and they have three children: Ruthie, Timmy, and Annie. He has a deep desire to see Hyde Park Schools continue on in its past and current successes.

    Trey Graves grew up in Bandera, Texas. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and received his doctorate in Physics from Texas A&M University. Mr. Graves has 25 years of experience as a research scientist and currently works in the semiconductor equipment industry. A member of Hyde Park Baptist Church for the past 20 years, Mr. Graves serves as a Deacon and is active in the Worship Ministry where he sings and plays the guitar. He and his family have lived in Central Austin for over 20 years, and he enjoys hiking, running, cycling, and discovering new places to explore in and around Austin. Mr. Graves is honored to have the opportunity to support the excellent Christ-centered education that Hyde Park Schools provides to the city of Austin.

Alan McNeil

    Alan McNeil has lived in Austin for 42 years, is married to his wife of 31 years, and they have three sons. Mr. McNeil brings over 34 years of multi-disciplinary experience in Banking, Finance Operations, Accounting and Internal Controls through his career in Banking and Corporate Finance. In his current role, he is responsible for the development and execution of strategies, policies, and procedures, and for the management and operation of global teams. Mr. McNeil and his family have been actively involved through the years in the church, various church programs and ministries. He has been a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church since 1983 and has served in various roles of the church. Mr. McNeil was a previous parent volunteer for the Child Development Center and Hyde Park Elementary School. In addition, he has served his local community as a current Board member of the Williamson County ESD#1, past Board President of NAMUD#1 (having served 24 years), past President of Rattan Creek Neighborhood Association and served with local Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops. He earned a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, in Management from Park University and is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), Certified Accounts Payable Manager, Distinguished (AMPD) and a Project Management Professional (PMP).

Martha Carson

    Martha Carson was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. After graduating from Central High, she attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a B.S. in Education. She received her M.ED. in Curriculum & Instruction in 1994 also from the University of Texas at Austin. She also has a Mid-management Administration Certification from Texas State University. After working in Austin Independent School District for six years as a 4th-5th grade elementary teacher, Ms. Carson worked as a professional development specialist for two years. She then served as an Area I Superintendent Intern where she helped lead and supervise 14 schools. The following year, she became a principal at Ortega Elementary for seven years. During her tenure, Ortega Elementary became the first school in AISD, with over 93% student poverty, to gain academic recognition from the Texas Education Agency. Ms. Carson then served as an Assistant Director of Bilingual/ESL education for one year before becoming the Executive Director of Bilingual Education/ESL where she led a program for over 26,000 students. During her work in that office, AISD's bilingual education and ESL students met and exceeded various state metrics for educational achievement. Nine years ago, she began working as the Director of the Hyde Park Baptist Church Child Development Center (CDC). The HPBC CDC has had dozens of children over the last 9 years who have attended Hyde Park Schools after leaving the CDC PK Program. Ms. Carson is married to Ralph Carson. Both are members of Hyde Park Baptist Church and have greatly enjoyed volunteering in teaching young children in the HPBC Children's Ministry. Ms. Carson is enthusiastic and excited about serving on the HPS Board.

    A native Austinite, Ms. Horne is a graduate of the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. She is married to Ed Horne, and is the proud mother of son, Nash Horne (HPS ‘10.) With experience in banking, land development and homebuilding, Ms. Horne is licensed by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners RID and the Texas Real Estate Commission. Longtime members of Hyde Park Baptist Church with a passion for Christian education, Elizabeth and Ed Horne have been involved in the founding of Trinity Episcopal School, Devine Savior Lutheran School/Santa Rita Ranch and the building of Hyde Park High School.

Frank Tuttle

    Frank Tuttle is a native Austinite. He attended public schools in Austin before attending the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a BBA in Accounting, followed by a JD from the University of Texas Law School. Mr. Tuttle is a licensed CPA and attorney and has worked his professional career in Austin, currently with the law firm of Naman, Howell, Smith & Lee, PLLC, since 2006. His practice is primarily in Estate Planning and Probate, as well as Tax Law. His wife Gail was formerly a teacher at Hyde Park Schools and is currently the assistant to the Worship Pastor at Hyde Park Baptist Church. Both of Mr. Tuttle’s children attended Hyde Park Schools: his daughter from kindergarten through 12th grade (HPS ‘00), and his son from kindergarten through 9th grade. He is a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and has served in various roles in the Church. His current interests generally revolve around his three grandchildren who live in Dallas.

David King

    David King has lived in Austin and the central Texas area for over 50 years, including graduating from the University of Texas in the College of Engineering. Mr. King has been a part of the high-tech industry since 1986, with 28 of those years being employed by IBM as a computer engineer. Additionally, Mr. King has been affiliated with PFS Investments for over 25 years, having both his series 6 & 63 securities license. Mr. King met his wife, Kim, at Hyde Park Baptist Church where he has been a member since he was a young child. They have two adult children. Mr. King’s wife, Kim, and mother have, collectively, worked for Hyde Park Schools for over 20 years.  His two siblings are both graduates from HPS, with one sibling having served on the HPS Board previously.
