HP Middle School

Welcome to Hyde Park Middle School, where students develop their academic skills while exploring their talents and interests in an encouraging and supportive, Christ-centered environment. Small class sizes of 10-22 students, outstanding teachers, and a challenging college-preparatory curriculum make the difference in each student’s experience. Truths are discovered and learning is enhanced with interactive and inspiring classroom approaches. PreAP courses in Math and English begin in 7th grade and expand to include Science and U.S. History in 8th grade. Students at all grade levels are taught using PreAP strategies, establishing a framework of learning geared toward college-level academics.

HPMS provides a strong student culture with outstanding leadership opportunities and excellent extracurricular programs. At HP, athletics, fine arts, and academic competitions are designed to build character, instill discipline, and develop teamwork and leadership skills that carry over into the classroom and everyday life. Through spiritual retreats, weekly Chapel services, daily Bible classes, and the schoolwide Day of Service, students develop into confident Christian leaders with a strong sense of self and a desire to serve others.

Middle School is a time of expression and development. Our goal at Hyde Park is for students to leave 8th grade confident and prepared intellectually, socially, and spiritually for high school.

Clubs and Extracurriculars

Middle School at Hyde Park is exciting! Spiritual, academic, social, athletic, artistic, leadership and service opportunities abound through our well-rounded, diverse extracurricular program. Faculty sponsors provide direction and leadership for each activity. Some activities, such as the National Honor Society, have eligibility requirements students must meet before being eligible to participate. Most organizations’ meetings take place in school facilities. The extracurricular program includes:

  • Academic Competitions (PSIA "Private School Interscholastic Association")
  • Duke TIP
  • Cities in Space science competition
  • National Junior Honor Society
  • Student Council
  • DroneYou (Grades 1-8)
  • Athletics – Hyde Park has a robust athletics program, in which all students can enter and learn regardless of their proficiency level in the sport. We participate in the Austin Interscholastic Parochial League (AIPL) in volleyball, football, basketball, cross country, track and field, soccer, golf, and tennis. Hyde Park also has Ultimate Frisbee and lacrosse clubs that compete against other area schools.
