Hyde Park Golfer Ben Constancio Selected to Play at Pebble Beach

HP Junior Ben Constancio finishes strong in tournament at Pebble Beach in September.
HP Junior Ben Constancio was selected as one of 81 high school golfers asked to participate in the 2015 Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach in September. This national tournament, which took place from September 22 to 27, is an official Champions Tour event representing 54 chapters of The First Tee. Televised on the Golf Channel, this tournament included junior golfers pairing with 81 Champions Tour players and also included 162 amateurs. Ben, paired with pro Wes Short Jr., finished 18 under and tied for 3rd in the tournament.  With scores of 68, 65, and 64, Ben’s parents, Pete and Shawn Constancio were proud of his tournament play. Pete Constancio stated, “Ben was so honored to play at Pebble Beach for The First Tee of Greater Austin. He met some of golf’s greatest players, including Tom Kite, Fred Couples, and Sandy Lyle. Ben was focused and enjoyed every minute of this experience!” Ben added, “I felt very honored to represent the Austin area at this tournament. One of my favorite memories was my practice round on Wednesday - my pro invited me to play at 7 am with him - it was a spectacular morning! I was very thankful for all of the support throughout the tournament and I knew I had to keep a positive attitude and keep pressing on whenever things didn’t go my way!” As a member of The First Tee of Greater Austin since the age of 9, Ben continues to mentor younger golfers in the Central Austin area.  As a member of the Varsity Golf Team at Hyde Park High School, Ben and his team took first in district in 2015 and Ben also progressed to the state tournament in Glen Rose. Hyde Park is proud of this outstanding student athlete and congratulates Ben on this amazing accomplishment!
