2014 HPHS Spring Production Highlights

Hyde Park High School Fine Arts Department
Draws Applause with The Sound of Music
The Hyde Park High School Fine Arts Department put on four outstanding performances of The Sound of Music in early April.  This production was under the leadership of Director Lynn Kent, Musical Director Darlene Cluff, and Student Directors Ashley Moore and Kyana Miller.  This production showcased outstanding student performances featuring seniors Adison Haager and Eric Fowler in the roles of Maria and Captain von Trapp.
Songs including “My Favorite Things,” “Do, Re, Mi,” and “Edelweiss” were audience favorites as Maria, the Captain, and the von Trapp children came together in beautiful harmonies.  Hyde Park students Darah Welch (Liesl), Jack Seale (Friedrich), Isa Perdichizzi (Louisa), Sutherlyn Nichols (Brigitta), and Matt Crawford (Kurt) were joined by Austin residents Arwen Addison (Marta) and Joopsy Dory (Gretl) in portraying the seven von Trapp children. Junior Emily Orr (Elsa) and senior Drew Williamson (Max) also contributed stunning vocal performances. With a cast of 65+ actors, 8 stage crew members, and HP parent volunteers, this production was first-rate. From the smallest to the tallest, Hyde Park High School’s Fine Arts Department put on a heart-felt, excellent performance of this time-loved classic.
