HP Senior Recognized as National Merit Finalist!

Hyde Park Senior Louisa Martin has been designated a Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, placing her in the top  1% of the approximately 1.5 million students considered.  Louisa began at Hyde Park as a freshman and has taken a full load of academic and Advanced Placement courses including History, Science, English, Economics, Math, and more. Louisa stated, “My math teachers at Hyde Park have been great. I enjoyed my Pre-Calculus class last year and my favorite class this year is AP Calculus BC.” Louisa excels not only in the Hyde Park classrooms, but she has also participated in several extracurricular programs at HP. As a member of the Varsity Softball Team since her freshman year, Louisa and the Lady Panthers advanced to the final four under the leadership of Head Coach John Carpenter last spring.  As a cast member in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Louisa has also been a part of the Fine Arts Productions at HPHS. Coming from a strong line of Texas A&M graduates, Louisa plans to apply to Texas A&M and major in Biomedical Sciences. Louisa’s older sister, Julia, an HP 2012 Graduate, currently attends Texas A&M.  Hyde Park congratulates Louisa and her parents, Amelia and Chris Martin, for this outstanding achievement.
